AMSTERDAM -- The Netherlands is now Germany's most valued import partner. A Dutch-German trade organisation revealed that the Netherlands took the top spot from France and is now the country exporting the most goods to Germany.

In the first six months of 2008, Dutch companies exported EUR 35.3 billion of goods to their neighbouring country. France's exports totalled EUR billion.

The Netherlands owes its success mostly to the increased price of natural gas and its ability to sell more of it.
