Netherlands extends Iraq mission by one year

The Netherlands will next year continue to take part in the NATO training mission to Iraq. The cabinet has decided to extend is contribution of five soldiers by one year.

Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal and Defence Minister Hans Hillen have today informed parliament of the decision.The Dutch soldiers in Iraq have been involved in the education and training of Iraqi soldiers and police officers since 2005. Their extended deployment will cost about 800,000 euros.
