The Dutch national football squad has beaten Sweden 4-1 in their fourth qualifier for the 2012 European Championships.

The Netherlands was already 2-0 up by half-time, with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scoring Holland’s first goal in the fourth minute. The Dutch team suffered a blow when Dirk Kuijt went off with an ankle injury after about half an hour of play, but Ibrahim Afellay was able to make it 2-0 before the whistle blew for half-time.

The second half was also goal-filled, with Huntelaar scoring again after just over 10 minutes and Afellay getting his own second goal not long afterwards. Andreas Granqvist managed to score Sweden’s only goal of the match later on.

The Netherlands were favourites to win the game and remain at the top of Euro 2012’s group E.
