Two Navy patrol ships due to be scrapped will be maintained, newspaper De Telegraaf reports.

The two new vessels were to be decommissioned as part of the budget cuts introduced by Defence Minister Hans Hillen.

Fresh funds, however, have now been found to keep them in service, according to the newspaper.

Parliament will debate the defence budget cuts on Monday.
