AMSTERDAM — The national police force KLPD and the Department of Waterways and Public Works warned motorists on Monday to be wary of slippery roads due to ice in coming nights.

Road users were urged to keep a close watch on weather forecasts and traffic information.

Motorists were also advised to expect traffic delays, especially during the morning peak-hour periods.

The Department of Waterways and Public Works has dispersed salt onto roads at 70 locations across the country to prevent the build up of ice.

Salt-dispersal vehicles will also be deployed several hours before the roads are forecast to freeze.
