AMSTERDAM — Meteorological centre KNMI has warned motorists of slippery roads due to heavy snow showers on Wednesday.

The snow slowed peak-hour traffic in the morning and several collisions were reported on the A7 near Purmerend. News agency ANP said a number of goods trucks also skidded off the road on the A7.

Lorries slipping on the ice caused more delays on the A2 near Nederweert and the A15 near Ridderkerk.

The A7, A32 and provincial roads between Drachten and Leeuwarden in the north of the country were left partially passable as a result of heavy snow.
