A mother saw the photo of her son on a TV crime programme and called the police immediately.

The Netherlands – A mother reported her son to the Rotterdam police for his involvement in the beach party riot in Hook of Holland after recognising his picture from a TV crime programme on Tuesday.

The photo of her son was shown on Investigation Verzocht Tuesday evening.

Upon seeing the photo, the mother called the police immediately and sent him in for questioning.

Tuesday evening was the second time the photos of suspects were aired on television, and more are expected to be released. The police have since received 11 tip-offs. Seven of the 10 suspects featured on the programme have been arrested.

In August, a19-year-old man was shot dead by police during the rioting at the free Sunset Grooves party on the beach at Hook of Holland. Six people were injured.

The police has been criticised for allegedly deploying too few riot police at the event due to cutbacks, despite tip-offs that hooligans were planning to make trouble.
