AMSTERDAM – The mother and two sons (aged 9 and 11) who died in a family tragedy in Hengelo (Gelderland) last week will be cremated after a private ceremony on Tuesday. The three family members had ingested a deadly overdose of pills.

A brief ceremony for school and playmates of the boys will be held at the Rozengaardsweide primary school this afternoon. School director Roelof van Gijssel will make a speech and students will release balloons.

The father, who also took an overdose of pills but survived, will not be allowed to attend the cremation. The public prosecution department in Zutphen decided this on Monday. He is in custody on suspicion of murder.
