More than 400 sexual abuse cases at institutions
Dutch daily newspaper de Volkskrant reports that more than 400 people say they were sexually abused at institutions in the past decades.
The reports were filed with the Samson Commission, which investigates child sexual abuse among children who were made wards of the court and placed in institutions or in foster families because they had been neglected or abused by their parents.
The Samson Commission was created in March last year following reports about sexual abuse among children who were placed in Catholic institutions in the 1950s and 1960s.
During its investigation, the Samson Commission will keep in contact with the Deetman commission which was created to investigate sexual abuse at Roman Catholic boarding schools. Both commissions are investigating the same period, from 1945 to the present day.
