LEIDEN – Police have been searching a trailer park in Leiden for weapons since 5.30 am on Tuesday.
More than 250 officers are taking part in the search of about 30 of the 120 trailers. The Hollands-Midden police department reported this on Tuesday.
The police are also using sniffer dogs specially trained to find firearms. Other police departments are assisting in the action. The trailer park has been cordoned off and no one may leave or enter the terrain. Police expect the search to take several hours.
A spokesperson for police did not want to say whether people were woken up by police or if any arrests have been made. It is also still unknown whether any weapons have yet been found. "The atmosphere at the park is relatively calm," she said.
The district chief said on BNR news radio that an illegal cannabis plantation was found and that narcotics and various weapons were confiscated.
