In the time trials in the Tour of Spain Vuelta, Dutch cyclist Bauke Mollema has lost the red jersey.

The young Rabo cyclist ended in 25th place in the 47-kilometre time trial in Salamanca. As a result, yesterday's leader has dropped into seventh place overall.

British Sky competitor Christopher Froome, who surprisingly came second behind German Tony Martin in the time trials, has taken over first position in the Vuelta.

Mollema who is better in the mountains than in time trials, was more than three minutes behind Tony Martin.

The best Dutch time trial was by Mollema's teammate Steven Kruijswijk who came in 20th, 2.57 minutes behind Martin.

Tuesday is a rest day in the Vuelta. On Wednesday, the Rabobank team can look forward to another mountain finish.
