Model joins cast of first Dutch 3-D film

Top model Doutzen Kroes is branching out into film to appear as a 16th century cabin boy's love interest in her native Netherlands' first 3-D movie, the Het Parool newspaper reported on Thursday.

Directed by Reinout Oerlemans, the film -- due out in November -- recounts explorer Willem Barentsz's doomed third attempt to find the Northeast Passage in 1596, said the Amsterdam-based on its website (

Robert de Hoog, 22, recently cast in Steven Spielberg's upcoming film rendition of the stage drama "War Horse," plays the cabin boy who kept a diary of the ill-starred Arctic voyage.

Victoria's Secret catwalk star Kroes, 26, whose career shifted into high gear in March 2007 when American Vogue named her as one of world's top 10 new models, gave birth to her first child in January.
