A Serbian government official has said that former Bosnian-Serb general Ratko Mladic will be probably be sent to the Yugoslavia Tribunal in The Hague within the next 24 hours.

The anonymous official said the judiciary will reject the appeal filed against Ratko Mladic’s extradition soon. Once that has happened, the justice minister can sign the extradition papers and put the former general on a plane to the Netherlands.

Ratko Mladic is accused of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. He was a fugitive for 16 years. His lawyer and his relatives argue that his poor health does not allow him to be put on trial in The Hague.
