AMSTERDAM — A 91-year-old religious father missing from the Steyl community since Wednesday evening has been found alive after a major search operation.

Tracker dogs found the man in the gardens of the complex on Thursday evening, a police spokesperson said. He was suffering from hypothermia but was otherwise unhurt.

Earlier searches involving 25 police officers and dozens of the man's colleagues failed to locate him.

The elderly religious father is in the early stages of dementia and is diabetic. The 140 members of the Steyl missionary community prayed all day for his safe return.
