AMSTERDAM — Two men missing since they broke into an illegal cannabis nursery in Venray were likely murdered, police said on Wednesday.
Fouad Bendelle, 23, and Karim Fourkour, 19, have not been seen since they broke into the premises on the Poststraat in the southeastern town on 11 May. Traces of blood from both men were found in the shed.
A team of 20 detectives have been assigned to the case and specialists have been drafted in from other regions.
The men’s family have been searching areas known for drug activity for several days but they have not found any sight of the missing men. Their details have been registered on missing persons' site www.vermistepersonen.nl.
Venray Mayor Jos Waals suggested that their disappearance could be connected to a battle over the cannabis plants. Bendelle's sister has said the men only wanted to steal some cannabis and were not involved in the growing of the drugs.
