THE NETHERLANDS - The Dutch Ministry of Finance is increasing the fines for credit companies and mortgage lenders using misleading or false advertising.
Companies found guilty can be fined a maximum of EUR 2 million.
The ministry commented that the previous maximum fine, EUR 450,000, does not seem to have made an impression on the financial sector.
The ministry also noted that neighbouring countries have much higher fines for misleading advertising.
