Immigration Minister Gerd Leers plans to put five drafts laws aimed at tightening up Dutch asylum policy to his cabinet colleagues this Friday, according to a report in newspaper.

Mr Leers is said to want tougher measures targetting criminal and illegal aliens. He apparently hopes to speed up the deportation process for aliens who get into trouble with the law. Foreigners who have been in the Netherlands less than three years would risk being deported after spending a single day in prison, according to the report.
