A new judicial reform will make it standard practice for public prosecution department to inform Dutch mayors when convicted paedophiles are released.

THE NETHERLANDS – Dutch mayors will be informed when convicted paedophiles from their municipalities are released from prison, said Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin.

In a newspaper report by Trouw, the minister said the public prosecution department will pass on release dates of convicted paedophiles to mayors but not housing corporations.

He added that informing housing corporations are taking things too far. However, mayors will be allowed to inform landlords in case of absolute necessity.
