AMSTERDAM — A Martinair plane abandoned its take-off from Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam in dramatic circumstances on Thursday due to a technical problem.

A Martinair spokesman said no one was injured in the incident and there was no panic on board the Boeing 767.

During the take-off, a cockpit light came on, indicating an undisclosed technical problem.

Several of the plane's tyres then burst because the pilots were forced to suddenly use the brakes.

After the passengers left the plane, they were taken by bus to the terminal. The Martinair spokesman said they would be flown to Vancouver by Friday morning at the latest.

A Schiphol spokeswoman said no other flight delays were recorded because the plane was able to return to the terminal under its own power.
