AMSTERDAM – The Marechaussee at Schiphol prevented an underage girl from being taken abroad against her will.

The incident took place on Monday evening. Three male relatives were reportedly trying to forcibly take the girl to the family's country of origin.

The Marechaussee announced that they arrested the three men on suspicion of unlawful detention.

The girl had gone to a ticket counter and asked for help. She said the three men accompanying her had forced her to come to the airport. The juvenile court has placed the girl in foster care for the time being. She is staying at a safe house.
