SCHIPHOL – The Marechaussee at Schiphol has arrested two men (aged 23 and 34) in Amsterdam for the theft of a large cargo shipment of digital cameras in September last year.

The men managed to steal the 2,500 cameras by replacing the nine pallets on which they’d been transported with pallets containing sand. Detectives traced the origin of the sand and found it was from a building supplies store. By studying surveillance camera footage from the store the detectives were able to identify the suspects.

The Marechaussee also searched two homes as part of the investigation. Some of the stolen cameras were found, as were several weapons and a large amount of money.

The Marechaussee are not ruling out more arrests.
