Many motorways suitable for higher speed limit.

The new 130 kph speed limited can be introduced for dozens of sections of the country’s motorways, and there are also sections where the current speed limit of 100 kph can be raised to 120. These are the conclusions of an inventory drawn up by Infrastructure Minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen published by populist newspaper on Saturday.

The plan to raise the speed limit from 120 kph to 130 is part of the cabinet's coalition agreement. Various media recently reported that the higher speed limit would only be introduced on four motorway sections, but the minister says she has found eight sections where motorists will soon be able to drive faster as part of a pilot. When the pilot is successful, the higher speed limit will be introduced for dozens of motorway sections this summer.
