AMSTERDAM — A 22-year-old man is to appear in court on Tuesday for allegedly threatening to kill Dutch MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
The Somali-born politician was given extra police protection at the end of August after a threat was posted on the Microsoft Netmeeting (MSN) internet forum.
The threat followed the television premiere of "Submission", a short film Hirsi Ali made with producer Theo van Gogh to highlight how they say the Koran sanctions domestic violence against women in Islamic communities.
The public prosecutor's office (OM) said on Friday the suspect, who has not been named, would appear before a court in The Hague on 26 October.
He was arrested during raids on three addresses in The Hague on 17 September after the police in the US helped Dutch detectives track down his email address. The hard drives of 12 computers were examined as part of the investigation.
