AMSTERDAM — The 45-year-old Henk van D. is alleged to have confessed to the murder of the 12-year-old Suzanne Wisman of Tweede Exloërmond.
But lawyer Hans Klopstra has refused to confirm whether the suspect, of Nieuw-Buinen, has made a confession, newspaper 'Dagblad van het Noorden' reported on Tuesday.
The public prosecution office said the suspect has made "various statements" which are now being investigated.
It did not rule out the possibility it might reveal more details over the circumstances of Suzanne's death and the motive for the crime in coming days.
Suzanne was found dead on the evening of 12 December last year. Her body was found on the Valtherdijk in Valthermond.
But her undamaged bike and bag was found abandoned a few kilometres away.
Prior to his alleged confession, the arrested suspect said he and Suzanne were the victims of a kidnapping.
