Man assasinated in Bussum
A man tentatively identified as real estate agent Peter Petersen was shot Tuesday morning in what looks like an assassination.
BUSSUM—A man who was found shot dead in his car Tuesday morning was identified as 45-year-old real estate agent Peter Petersen.
The report came from a reliable source, but the police were unable to confirm the man’s identity.
The man was shot around 10 am in front of the Jan Tabak hotel. The suspect(s) are currently on the run.
The incident had the markings of a liquidation, but the police commented only: “There is nothing yet known about a motive.”
Police found an incinerated vehical the suspects used to escape in Almere-Buiten on the Koopvaarderspad. The police were unable to identify its make, and wouldn’t comment on whether it was a car or a van.
Petersen, also known at ‘Fat Peter,’ did business with the real estate agent Kees Houtman, who was murdered in November 2005. Houtman is assumed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (OM) to have been an extortion victim of Willem Holleeder.
The subsequently liquidated real estate magnet Willem Endstra reported to the police before his death that Holleeder extorted money from both Houtman and Petersen. The extortion case against Holleeder is currently being appealed in a high court in Amsterdam.
The Amsterdammer Holleeder is serving a nine-year jail sentence for extorting money from Petersen and Endstra, among other charges. Holleeder has continued to his maintain innocence.
If the murder is a payback from within criminal circuits, then it’s the third such incident in a short period, with a total of four victims. On 5 February in Leiderdorp Yassin Chakor and Boneka Belserang were shot dead outside a pancake restaurant near the A4 highway.
Belserang was sentenced to five years in conjunction with a shooting in an Amsterdam parking garage in early 2005.
On 24 February a 38-year-old man, known to police, died when he was shot on the Cornelis Dirkstraat in Amsterdam-West. Shortly after the shooting local police started an investigation into the shooting.
A white tent concealed the black BMW with German plates in which the victim lay yesterday afternoon. A police helicopter circled the hotel later in the day. Around five o’clock in the afternoon, the body was removed.
