Man arrested for shooting at intruders

3 December 2007, SCHOORL – Police arrested a 41-year-old man from the town of Schoorl in Noord-Holland on Saturday night after he shot at two men who were trying to break into his home. One of the intruders was injured in the incident, police reported on Sunday.

SCHOORL – Police arrested a 41-year-old man from the town of Schoorl in Noord-Holland on Saturday night after he shot at two men who were trying to break into his home. One of the intruders was injured in the incident, police reported on Sunday.

The two burglars were trying to force the front door of the man's home on the Hulstweg. The 41-year-old man then fired a number of shots with a firearm. The two intruders fled. The resident then phoned the police and handed his firearm over to police, who promptly arrested him.

At the same time police received a report of a altercation on the Laanweg in Schoorl. The two men turned out to be the burglars, two Schoorl residents aged 28 and 54. The 28-year-old had suffered an injury to his head from the shots. Even though his injury was not life-threatening he was brought to hospital for observation. The two intruders were also arrested.
