Major disruption of Dutch rail traffic after fire

No trains will be able to travel either from or to Utrecht central station on Friday evening as the result of a fire in a traffic control centre.

The fire has disrupted rail traffic from and to Utrecht and in a wide circle around the city, which is the main hub of Dutch rail transport. The national railway company NS is currently involved in trying to direct stranded trains back to the station where they made their last stop. And the NS is using coaches to take stranded passengers to other stations. A spokesperson said there was extensive damage to the traffic control centre and train traffic in and around Utrecht will definitely not be resumed tonight.
