AMSTERDAM — Police arrested a 24-year-old man in Enschede at about 3.30pm on Saturday on suspicion of a fatal stabbing in Amsterdam East.

The suspect was identified as an Amsterdam man of Antillean descent.

He is accused of stabbing to death a 27-year-old Moroccan man last Wednesday night. The man has been described as the main suspect.

It is the third arrest carried out in relation to the case. Police had earlier arrested last Wednesday night two other suspects.

Police are still searching for another suspect and further arrests have not been ruled out.

The stabbing sparked unrest in the Indische district in Amsterdam.

Moroccan youths clashed with Surinamese residents, claiming a Surinamese person was the killer.
