MADRID - This is the punishment meted out against the Spanish club by UEFA for the racist chanting of its fans during a match with Olympique Marseille on 1 October.
UEFA originally ordered Atlético to play its next two European matches 300 kilometres from Madrid, but that ruling was overturned on appeal.
However, the fine of 150,000 euros also levied is to stand. Atlético Madrid is angry at the new ruling and intends to appeal against it.
PSV is also angry at the ruling. Although fans who had bought tickets for the match will get their money back from PSV, it is not at all certain whether those who had also booked flights and hotel rooms will be able to obtain free of charge refunds.
