AMSTERDAM – The parents of missing British 4-year-old Madeleine McCann are upset with the Telegraaf for publishing excerpts from an anonymous letter it received which claims to indicate the location of the girl's body.

Father Gerry McCann writes on his weblog that he and his wife are "very disappointed" that the Telegraaf published parts of the letter yesterday before Portuguese police had the opportunity to examine the document.

The girl disappeared from a holiday apartment in Portugal in early May and has not been seen since. The letter sent to the Telegraaf claims that her body is buried under a pile of branches and stones about 15 km from Praia de Luz, the town where she disappeared.

The letter reportedly bears a strong resemblance to a letter received last year about missing Belgian girls Stacey and Nathalie. Their bodies were found not far from the place indicated by that letter.
