AMSTERDAM - Princess Mabel regrets her changes to the entry on her in Wikipedia, but does think she had the right to alter the entry, the Volkskrant reports.
Mabel said this in a conversation with Wikipedia founder Jimbo Wales, who talks about the conversation in an interview on Wikipedia. Wales recently met Mabel in China.
Mabel acknowledges that she should not have made changes in the sentence that stated she had given "inaccurate" information to the government about her past. The words were in a direct quote from Prime Minister Balkenende and she should not have tampered with the citation. She says that in hindsight she should just have added a full sentence stating that she and Prince Friso continue to maintain that she gave "incomplete" but not "inaccurate" information.
The princess is angry at the media response to the matter, she told Wales. "She hoped that the edit would give rise to a debate about the facts of the situation. But the media only focused on the fact of the editing. She also thinks they could have done a better job of it."
