MP calls for more money for solar panels
The Labour Party wants an extra EUR 72 million for solar panels.
THE NETHERLANDS - The Labour Party wants an extra EUR 72 million for solar panels. Speaking on the radio programme Early Birds (Vroege Vogels) on Sunday morning, Labour Party MP Diederik Samsom said the sum could be taken from the money set aside by the government for the construction of windmills.
The Ministry for Economic Affairs originally made EUR 88 million available for the installation of solar panels by both companies and private individuals.
However, said Samsom, the offer has been heavily over-subscribed, which is why he is calling on the government to provide more money to keep it going.
He said the money could be taken from the fund set up to pay for the construction of windmills throughout the country.
He said plans for the construction of many such windmills would never reach fruition because of all the complications involved in acquiring licenses.
