'Little point bombing Libya'
Dutch Defence Minister Hans Hillen says there is little point in bombing Libya. He called it 'naive' to expect that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi would flee in the face of allied bombing. The minister added that the NATO operation in Libya should be ended by late September.
Mr Hillen's remarks have caused irritation among the members of NATO and in parliament.
The Dutch foreign ministry is also not amused. A ministry spokesman pointed out that Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal has primary responsibility in this area and Minister Hillen is only required to carry out policy.
