20 April 2007, AMSTERDAM – Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin understands Maastricht's reasoning in wanting to move coffeeshops closer to the border region, but "that must not aggravate problems for our neighbours," Hirsch Ballin said on Thursday in Luxembourg. He will talk to Belgian Home Affairs Minister Patrick Dewael today about the matter.

Mayor of Maastricht Gerd Leers wants to move a number of coffeeshops from the city centre to an area close to the Belgian border.
