AMSTERDAM -- Statistics Netherlands reports that the number of women who develop breast cancer continues to fall.

There was a 5 percent drop in 2007 compared with 2006. The number of women who die from breast cancer declined by more than 25 percent since 1997, and for the first time, lung cancer is more likely than breast cancer to kill women.

Foreign-born women, in particular those from Turkey and Morocco, have less chance of developing breast cancer than women born in the Netherlands.
