Learn about love and mathematics

Discover the formulae for love at Ionica Smeets presentation (in English) “Liefde & wiskunde/ Love & mathematics” on 12 May in Amsterdam.

Which gifts impress a woman? How do you know if your partner is the right one? What is the best strategy for approaching a group of women in a pub? And is it possible to predict whether your relationship will last with the help of a formula?

A solution is at hand, or at least a more in-depth discussion, in the form of Ionica Smeets and her talk “Liefde & wiskunde/ Love & mathematics” next month in Amsterdam. Ionica, one of the Dutch “ wiskundemeisjes” (www.wiskundemeisjes.nl) is adept at showing how mathematics applies to everyday phenomenon in life and explaining the simple maths behind intriguing and seemingly complex observations. Ionica will be speaking at the Amsterdam GirlGeekDinner on 12  May at 19:00 in the Westergasfabriek, Amsterdam. The GirlGeekDinners (girlgeekdinners.com) are social events. Their goal is to encourage women in science, technology and other traditionally-male domains to network and meet for discussions over dinner and hear a (usually female) speaker talk about her scientific/technological subject of choice.

Events are not restricted to women – male guests are invited in the company of an attending female!
