Last Train Home wins IDFA award

The Chinese-Canadian film Last Train Home by Lixin Fan has won the main award at IDFA, the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam.

Amsterdam - The documentary is about the gruelling journey undertaken each year by countless Chinese workers from the new industrial areas to their families in the countryside.

John Appel's The Player picked up the first Dioraphte IDFA Award for Dutch Documentary. The jury also awarded a Special Jury Award to Judith Ehrlich and Rick Goldsmith for The Most Dangerous Man in America (USA).
Prior to the award ceremony, Amsterdam alderman Carolien Gehrels officially launched IDFA TV, the online documentary channel where documentaries can be seen all year round, free of charge.

IDFA, the world's largest documentary festival, was held for the 22nd time.
