Karadzic transferred to The Hague

War crime suspect Radovan Karadzic arrived in the Netherlands Wednesday morning.

THE HAGUE - War crime suspect and former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic was flown this morning from Belgrade to Rotterdam airport, where a waiting helicopter brought him directly to a special detention unit in Schevingen.

He will be tried by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague on charges of genocide and war crimes.

Karadzic was arrested in Belgrade last week after having evaded capture for 12 years.

On Tuesday evening an estimated 15,000 people demonstrated in his support in Belgrade.
