KLM lowers fuel tax

The Royal Dutch Airlines is lowering its air fuel tax following a 27 percent drop in oil prices since July.

THE NETHERLANDS -- Royal Dutch Airlines KLM is lowering its air fuel tax as of Friday. The fuel tax on a flight within Europe is now EUR 37, a decrease of EUR 4.

Passengers on intercontinental flights will pay EUR 10 to EUR 14 less, depending on the duration of the flight. The intercontinental fuel tax will range from EUR 123 to EUR 133.

KLM is lowering the tax because of a 27 percent drop in oil prices since July. Oil now costs USD 108 a barrel, compared to USD 147 earlier in the summer.
