Junior bishop sends foetus models to MPs
An open anti-abortion letter sent by an assistant bishop to Dutch MPs has enraged liberal MP Jeanine Hennis.
She sent out a response on Twitter, saying "I just got a truly disgusting letter from womb to Ground Zero plus model of an embryo from assistant bishop of Roermond De Jong #amangry".
With every one of his letters, assistant bishop De Jong had enclosed a life-sized model of a ten-week-old foetus. The message in the cleric's letter says, "Widespread cuts have been announced. Why don't we cut back on the bloody item of abortion clinics?" The episcopal assistant continues, "In the next couple of years we need hundreds of hands by the bedside nurses. There are none... The people who could have washed us, have been killed by us."
Assistant Bishop De Jong wrote that he was sending the letter on behalf of a pro-life foundation for which he acts as religious advisor. The foundation chairman said in a reaction that MP Jeanine Hennis should try and talk to the assistant bishop.
