Insiders have told the Dutch weekly that Jordan van der Sloot stabbed has three people in the Castro Castro prison in Peru in the past five months.

The 23-year-old Dutchman, who is awaiting trial for the murder of Peruvian student Stephany Flores, has apparently been involved in a number of prison fights. One of these ended in a bloodbath in which a prisoner was stabbed in the stomach and had to undergo an emergency operation.    Van der Sloot is said to suffer from fits of rage and to be taking a lot of drugs. The magazine quotes a source as saying “He has been thrown into solitary confinement countless times but he comes out just as aggressive every time.”

Reportedly, he somehow always has enough money to bribe the guards and to buy drugs and weapons.

Joran van der Sloot’s lawyer Máximo Altez does not deny the stabbings took place. He says the guards and the other prisoners have been provoking his client. “They are bringing about this behaviour by putting him under pressure in stressful situations that he can’t handle.”
