6 November 2003 , AMSTERDAM — A man accused of involvement in the killing of drug addict Anja Joos outside an Amsterdam supermarket in October has handed himself into police. He had gone missing on Tuesday after being granted bail on compassionate grounds.

AMSTERDAM — A man accused of involvement in the killing of drug addict Anja Joos outside an Amsterdam supermarket in October has handed himself into police. He had gone missing on Tuesday after being granted bail on compassionate grounds.

A spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Thursday that the suspect, 19, has been missing since Tuesday. He contacted plice on Thursday evening and surrendered himnself.

He was being held in custody pending his trial since early October, but was granted compassionate leave for a few hours to pay final respects to his deceased father.

He did not return and an international warrant was issued for his arrest. His late father is to be buried in their native Morocco, nu.nl reported.
