Marechaussee at Schiphol confiscate government-issued ID card depicting bearer as “The Joker.”

30 January 2007

AMSTERDAM – The man from Hellevoetsluis who dressed up as the Joker from the Batman films for the picture on the identification card issued him by the municipality was forced to surrender his card to military police when he arrived at Schiphol on a flight from London on Monday evening.

The Hellevoetsluis municipality said last week already that the man would have to hand in the ID card. Yet he was able to fly to the UK on Monday without being stopped since the ID card was not false and the military police were not officially on the lookout for him. That was the case upon his return however.
The man says that he pulled the stunt to show that the regulations for passport photos are not watertight.
