AMSTERDAM – Job applications are increasingly being conducted online; the many online job sites, alert services and online databases of CVs are making the whole application process easier.

So said Hendrik-Jan Guitink of Quorum International Search on Thursday, adding that a good 70 percent of initial job inquiries now take place online. Some interviews are even conducted online via webcams.

Employers too are taking increasing advantage of the net to request or research more information on the candidate, often uncovering more than is on the CV, such as hobbies, presentations and press quotes, according to Guitink.
