Israeli cabinet to discuss ceasefire

The Israeli military reports that its forces attacked at least 40 targets in the Gaza Strip earlier today, hitting tunnels, bunkers and mine fields.

JERUSALEM - Palestinian sources say at least two people were killed in the bombardment of a United Nations school at Beit Lahiya in te northern Gaza Strip.

The Israeli cabinet will meet this evening Jerusalem to discuss a unilateral ceasefire.

Israeli troops will remain in parts of the Gaza Strip for the time being.

The United States and Israel have reached agreement on the prevention of the smuggling of arms from Egypt to Gaza.

Israeli officials say they will interrupt the ceasefire if Hamas continues to fire rockets into Israeli territory.
