THE NETHERLANDS -- The Netherlands is one of the several countries which is currently considered a legitimate target by international terrorist networks, says a new threat assessment published Wednesday by the National Coordinator for Counter-Terrorism.

According to the report, terrorists are focussing on Dutch interests abroad.

The Netherlands is considered a target mainly because of Freedom Party MP Geert Wilders' anti-Qur'an film Fitna, which is regarded by some groups as an insult to Islam.

The release of the film earlier this year prompted the Dutch authorities to increase the domestic threat level from 'limited' to 'substantial'.
