Intensive fitness test leaves police officers injured
Unions are demanding that police officers have more opportunity to exercise to avoid failing fitness test.7 July 2008
THE NETHERLANDS - Police unions are worried about the fitness test for police officers.
Not only are older and less sports-oriented officers failing because it is too intensive but, in some cases, even fit individuals are ending up with injuries.
During the test, participants have to complete a range of activities. These include carrying a dummy weighing 40 kilograms and running an assault course.
Given that the test is now voluntary, but will soon become compulsory, the unions are demanding that officers be given more opportunity to exercise.
