10 July 2007, KINDERDIJK – Four Dutch tourists were injured on Tuesday after being struck by lightning while visiting the windmills at Kinderdijk.

KINDERDIJK – Four Dutch tourists were injured on Tuesday after being struck by lightning while visiting the windmills at Kinderdijk.

Two women aged 73 and 79 are in serious condition, a police spokesperson reports.

They were part of a group of six walking near the famous windmills. Two others were unhurt. The injured individuals were taken to a hospital in Rotterdam with burn wounds.

The accident occurred early in the afternoon on the Molenstraat bicycle path.
