"Ikea was strongest brand in 2007"
The Dutch rate Swedish home furnishings store Ikea the strongest brand of the year.

AMSTERDAM – The Dutch rate Swedish home furnishings store Ikea the strongest brand of the year, according to the brand study held by Consult Brand Strategy every two years.
Ikea, which was also recently named best retail chain of 2007, is seen as innovative and trendy, says André Soff of the agency. Google came in second place, followed by CliniClowns, the third strongest brand in the Netherlands.
The advertising agency said the rapid rise of Google is remarkable, since it was only at 16th place two years ago. "Things related to internet and technology are very attractive at the moment," says Soff, director of the agency.
The strongest newcomer of 2007 is Marktplaats.nl. The auction site is in 35th place. Soff: "The strength of the site is its popularity."
1,500 people were polled as part of the study and more than 1,000 brands were rated for their familiarity and reputation, among other qualities. From next year the Dutch study will be held yearly.
Consult Brand Strategy is part of American communications organisation Young & Rubicam, which has been regularly measuring the value and perception of 34,000 brands worldwide since 1993.
