Ice cream is the new beer
The Dutch hospitality sector is doing well, with a 10 percent expansion over the past five years.
Figures released by the Chamber of Commerce show that the greatest growth has been in hotels, guesthouses and conference facilities. Event catering has also expanded - from 3,500 to 5,300 companies.
The main exception to the general trend is the number of bars, which has shrunk by over six percent. On the other hand, there are now 600 ice cream parlours - a 50 percent increase.
